Planning your move
- Start planning your move early to avoid any last minute problems.
- Decide exactly what you require to be moved to your new property and sort through any surplus items, why
pay to move something you don't need.
- Think about the fixtures & fittings you are taking with you and any appliances and services that will need
disconnecting & reconnecting by an engineer.
- Make an appoitment with the estimator and allow enough time (min 1/2 hr )to
go through the details with them pointing out all those items to be moved and those that are not.
- Decide if you want a packing service or if you want to pack your own effects. Remember to allocate plenty of time and space for the packing if you
want to pack yourself. Discuss the packing options with the estimator.
- Make sure you mention to the estimator any concerns you may have regarding the move so they may be dealt with
early, this should ensure a smooth move.
- You will also have to give details of your new property including the access for removals ( size of road/drive,
distance from the road and parking arrangements, overhanging trees, narrow streets, low bridges etc. ) along with
times of access for moving in as all of these things affect the quotation price.
- Remember the doorways and room layouts will be different at your new home - will the furniture fit into the house.
- Discuss these matters with the estimator then a written quotation will then be sent to you covering the work involved.
Booking your move
- Once you are ready to exchange contracts you will need to set a completion date, before committing yourself
check with your removers because your proposed moving date may not be available.
- Find out the removers available dates and submit these to your solicitor.
- We will hold a provissional booking for you where possible.
- When a date has been agreed we can firmly book in your move subject to the return of our acceptance form and the
booking deposit.
- Should you need to move out before buying your new home we can arrange for the storage of your effects.

- When you have a confirmed moving date make arrangements to have your gas/electric/telephone etc disconnected and
meters read.
- Contact other authorities responsible for water, sewage etc.
